John Boehner cries, again, leading some in the media to chide him (sort of)
John Boehner did it again. While delivering a public address, he got... well, a bit misty eyed. The latest occasion was last night, as the congressman's fellow Republicans were swept back into majority power in the House of Representatives following mid-term elections across America. Boehner, who is widely expected to replace Democrat Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the House, got choked up somewhere between talk of cutting government spending and an aside about his personal experience of the "American dream." Boehner has before shed tears -- during a victory speech and again on the House floor -- leading some media pundits to roll their eyes.As Jake Tapper, the ABC correspondent to the White House, simply tweeted, “Get used to those tears, folks. He's a cryer."
Meanwhile, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow took a few shots at his tearful moments, before adding, "he is a weeper.â€
Perhaps one of the nicer things written about Boehner comes from Andrew M. Brown at Britain's Telegraph. Boehner's showing of emotion was understandable given the "elemental, almost sacred" ideals that Boehner was discussing, Brown writes, adding, however, that the display was a "trifle wet" for Brits who might well wonder if Boehner was "suffering a nervous breakdown."
