Unfortunate birthday cake spellings: Bobby Cox
Bobby Cox, the venerable manager of the Atlanta Braves who has been around for many years, was set to be honored by the U.S. Senate recently for his staying power and exceptional resume.
The Senate thought they'd get Cox a cake, complete with an image of a baseball diamond and a sweet message. It read: "Thanks for 50 Great Years Bobby Cocks."
Bobby didn't deserve that. Now there are rumors that one of the official Senate bakers was either a Braves hater or a rabid Phillies or Nationals fan. Cox apparently never saw the potentially offensive slice of cake as Senate staffers tried to smear the word and, when that didn't work, eventually cut the offending piece out and threw it away.
Seems someone owes Bobby an apology.
