Jon Stewart blasts CNN for decision to hire RedState blogger, Erick Erickson
On his blog at RedState, Erick Erickson takes particular pleasure in skewering the left. Perhaps that's why CNN, which has been struggling to compete lately in the highly partisan world of cable news, hired him. But as Daily Show comedian Jon Stewart notes, CNN unfortunately did not do a very good job of vetting Erickson before bringing him aboard. After all, Erickson called First Lady Michelle Obama a "Marxist happy wife." As for Supreme Court Justice David Souter, he's a "goat f--king child molester,"according to Erickson. Try putting that on your resume before your big interview for a job in the news biz.
What really steamed Stewart is that it was only after Erickson joined the team that CNN started asking tough questions -- and on the air, creating several moments in which Erickson stammered and backtracked. "Only CNN could hire a guy whose entire resume is incendiary partisan rhetoric and then act like that's the part of him they don't like," Stewart said. "CNN is like the guy at the strip club who says, 'I'm gonna hang out, but I'm not gonna get a lap dance... I'm here for the buffet.'"
