Memo to Boston Celtics fans: Get a clue
By A.J. Vicens  l Published: Thursday, March 11 2010 07:23

How Sucky is Boston?

So, you're a Boston Celtics fan and your team was on the wrong end of a 20-point beat down last night at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies. What's the most appropriate reaction? Well, if you're like any Boston fan, you boo your team off the floor. "It surprises me," said Paul Pierce, who has played on some pretty bad teams in the past. He admitted that the team has to be more consistent in its efforts, but honestly Boston: chill. Booing your team makes sense if they really suck -- or if they clearly show up just to collect a check and hit the bar after the game. Every team lays an egg once in a while, but it seems that Boston fans expect their team to be perfect. Wake up: it's not 2008 and your team isn't championship-caliber any more.

Things could be much worse. You could be a New Jersey Nets fan, and be able to count your team's wins on both hands. You could be Minnesota Timberwolves fan and watch your team fail no matter what team management tries to do, and you'd be living in Minnesota.

The Celtics are 17 games above .500 and sitting in third place in the Eastern Conference, just behind the Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic. Last time I checked, those are two pretty good teams. On top of that, the Celtics lost to the Memphis Grizzlies, a team sitting at 9th place in the Western Conference, which at 34-31 would be the sixth seed if they played in the Eastern Conference.
