Jon Stewart rallies to the defense of 'South Park,' bashes Islamic radicals, tells them 'Go f#uck yourself, now'
The "Daily Show's" comedic host, Jon Stewart, last night gave a shout out to his Comedy Central colleagues, "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone," for their attempts to portray of Islam's most holy man, Mohammad, in bear suit in Episode 200 a week ago. In this week's episode, No. 201, Comedy Central censored out references to Mohammad following threats from a New York City-based Islamic extreme group, Revolution Muslim, and the guy in the bear suit turned out to be Santa Claus.
Calling "hatred and intolerance" the enemy, not lampoonery, Stewart said that groups that celebrate the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks enjoy the freedom to say whatever they want while living amid New York's theaters, Jewish delis, and parks.
"These numbnuts get to enjoy it," he said. "All because of how much we, in this country, value and protect even their freedom of expression. "
He then joined with a gospel-style group and sang, "Go f@ck yourselves, now."
