André-Philippe Côté has published drawings and comic strips since 1975. Since 1997, he has served as an editorial cartoonist for Le Soleil, the Quebec City newspaper. The author of the comic strip "Baptiste the Tramp," he produced six titles between 1991 and 1998 as well as 30 very short animated films in 3D for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation featuring Baptiste and his friend, the well-known dog Bali. He recently published two albums of comic strips featuring his character, Le docteur Smog (Casterman, Paris). Every year since 1997, Mr. Côté has completed an annual compendium of his best editorial works, De tous les Côté -- and was twice finalist for the Canadian National Newspaper Award.
In the special edition of
Le Petit Larousse 2006, he illustrated three words in “Mots de la Francophonie” and drew ten vignettes for
Le Petit Larousse 2010. His cartoons from
Le Soleil are frequently reprinted in
Le CourrierInternational and other French newspapers, including
Le Monde, Ouest France, La Dépêche du midi, and
Cartooning for peace.
