A freak 26-foot-high wave crashed into the Louis Majesty cruise ship off the coast of Spain's northeast Catalonia region on Wednesday evening as the vessel traveled towards port in Genoa, Italy. Two people on the ship of 1,350 passengers and 580 crew are reportedly dead and several others are injured, including a 62-year-old woman whose legs were broken after the massive wave swept through. Australia's Courier Mail did not obtain the names of the dead, but reported that one is a German and the other an Italian. Following the incident, the Louis Majesty's captain detoured to Barcelona in Spain, where the ship arrived late on Wednesday to evacuate the dead and injured. A spokeswoman for the Barcelona port authority said vessel had first ventured out of Cartagena in southeast Spain early Wednesday and will continue to Genoa after victims are evacuated.
