Today is the birthday of Dr. Seuss, or Theodor Geisel, the American writer who would be 106 years old if he were still alive. He's best known for his kids books such as “The Cat In the Hat” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas," classics that spawned television and film efforts. Perhaps his most-cited character is the Grinch, the green lug who steals Christmas and realizes what a putz he really is when the citizens of Whoville he sought to make sad turned inward, instead, and were really quite glad. "And what happened then? Well, in Whoville they say that the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes that day." Good beat evil -- emotional intelligence trumped IQ -- in the world of Seuss. With that, we present the top five Dr. Seuss quotes to make you stop and think: 1. So the writer who breeds more words than he needs, is making a chore for the reader who reads.2. And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed. 3. I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful, one hundred percent. 4. From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere. 5. Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you. Share |
