First snow in Colorado's ski country on the last day of summer

Author // D. Scriber

abasinIt's hard to believe, but on the last day of summer it's already snowing in Colorado.
Arapahoe Basin expects to receive it's first significant snowfall of the season - 2 to 4 inches.
It won't get warmer than 40 degrees in High Country today and the weather is expected to linger for a few days.
The snow is so encouraging that the Loveland Ski Area has begun it's annual quest to be the first resort in the United States to open.
Loveland began churning out artificial snow this morning to add to the natural stuff dropping out of the sky.
abasin1Our friends at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area sent us these pics taken by Kimberly Trembearth at the resort located about 100 miles west of Denver, east of Vail.
